Hello there,

It’s been a while since my website came out and the daily pedestrian tasks I find myself doing every day hardly seem newsworthy. However, last month the rollicking good historical adventure novel I wrote was a finalist for the Amity Literary Prize. And for that reason, Anamcara Press wanted to publish it. So, last week I signed a contract with them to do just that, which is very exciting and I wanted to share that good news with you.

The working title is Syzygetic Journey. And while most of you are familiar with the definition of “journey,” “syzygetic” relates to, or constitutes a syzygy, which, in this case, is the configuration of the sun, the moon, and Earth lying in a straight line.

Syzygetic Journey is a time travel story that takes you back to the seventeenth century where history comes alive through the eyes of Big Mac Cramer, a twenty-first century Navy pilot, and his crew. Except for the lives of three of the four time-travelers, it is historically accurate and attempts to provide an alternate explanation for a very dark period in our country’s history.

Anamcara Press is a small, independent publisher located in Lawrence Kansas that publishes very few new books each year, so I feel extremely honored for them to have selected one of mine. Syzygetic Journey is scheduled to be released in September 2026 and I hope those of you who have read my Chip Hale mysteries and/or standalone book, The Little Storehouse in the Middle of the Block, will thoroughly enjoy Syzygetic Journey when it comes out regardless of the title, which I’ll be sure to let you know. And for those of you who haven’t, you’re in for a ripping good time.

Thank you.
